I'm not sure if anyone else here gets Al Lowe's e-newsletter but in today's edition he writes:

"Those of you who remember Sierra when it was run by Ken & Roberta Williams may also remember how that company changed competely after being bought by Cendant. Yesterday the man who engineered that buyout was sentenced to 12 years and 7 months in prison and ordered to pay $3.28 billion in restitution for leading the largest accounting fraud of the 1990s. While I'm sure he will appeal, my personal hope is that his life will be wrecked as thoroughly as he wrecked a great game company. Doesn't pull any punches does he? I love that corporate criminals are getting theirs more often these days.

Al Lowe is always refreshing for those who like the blunt truth. Just as long as you're not on the other side of his comment.

Great news.. justice is served. But as Vildern said it wont bring back the dead. Sierra's buyout was the official death sentence, but sadly Sierra was bleeding to death a few years before that. A lot of bad choices and too many expenses.. sad really.

Maybe, but if Sierra wasn't sold to anyone, and disbanded in case of lack of funds, that would have meant Mark, Scott and Josh would have kept an hand on their Space Quest franchize. Al to keep Leisure Suit Larry, Jane Jensen to keep Gabriel Knight and the Coles to keep Quest for Glory. This would have made a big difference.

Well, maybe, maybe not... we can only dream about what might have happened if things were different. Anyway, I hope this guy rots in jail, it's better than nothing.

As much as I love the brilliant people who created the games I still love, I very much doubt they'd own the rights to them. I think Ken would've sold the company to somebody else if it hadn't been Cendant.
