Are we still remaking SQ2-pictures? If we are, we need more of them.

This paintover is not very good, and it really still needs to be improved. I have sharpened the original picture, altered the sky and improved forest a little.

General advice: Avoid the blurring of backgrounds!

Yes, this thread is still going. I think with the holidays, most didn't have time to work.

Okay, here is an unfinished screen that I did.

Paintovers requested. Also, anyone else who has art to post here, remember to feel free. We're just making pictures here.

I remade the platform. Made it sharper. I used JLM5 background. I had to copy and paste a little in the background to cover the other platform.

Nice work JLM5, Blackthorne, and Loeky! I guess I will also follow Blackthorne's example.

EDIT: Decided to finish it up some more as it was in a very crude stare

Here is my unfinished background. I did not complete drawing the shadowed in areas, the stairs, glow of the red lights, and making the image fit 320 x 200 demensions completely. Edit away guys!
P.S. Plus it is a little on the grey side. Needs more color

Here is the ground level of the platform. I used again JLM5's background. Also I had to copy and plaste a little in the background but here is the result.

Also, who's permission do I have to use their backgrounds in my game. Please answer if it's okay. I would never use them otherwise.

I assume these images are something like public domain.

Here was a try I did of a vga screen with something that Rog posted earlier that I never posted as it is incomplete.

I think one of the purposes, of this thread was to create a set of SQ2 vga backgrounds that people might use freely in their game. So it is safe to assume you can use (and or change) any images posted in this thread.

Having said that; all these images are legally copyright violations of sierra's backgrounds so any rights on these images are doubtful anyway. (Though personally I don't think vu/sierra would object a remake, since they are not selling the game anymore and this way it keeps the community 'alive' and the acquired SQ brand valuable. (As long as any remakes are true to the original series I guess).

BT, what exactly is unfinished with your picture? It looks pretty good already, I gave it a limited palette much like Sierra would and it looks great.

Most of the rocks in the background were just "placement". I never finished giving them good definition or character.

Ahhh. I noticed that for the rocks in the back, but assumed that it was done in order to show depth.

Thanks Rog but I can not take all the credit. The background is from JLM5. I remade the platform.

Here is another background I made some time ago. I didn't continue the drawing because I couldn't get the colours right. I think it looks too much like a fairy tale background. Especially the sand and the grass.

thats exactly what it looks like. It's more a KQ7 remake than a SQ2 background.
Maybe someone can use it for a fairy tale adventure or use it for a paintover.
I'm working on a new background. I extracted some background pictures from KQ6 and SQ4 to study the style some more.

Very nice JLM, your bushes match the style of your other works.

These all look so good! Loeky, I think your BKG could be used as a basis for paintover - I'll give it a go.

Here is the the screenshot with the VGA color palette. I experienced quite a bit of color loss on the launch pad (Had a few oil/unknown stains on it) and the red lights glow look a bit funky. Edit away guys (I can post Full color components/Layers if it helps) or at least tell me ways of improving it.
