help!! quest for glory 1 (by sierra) stats

#1 Post by zigi » Mon Nov 08, 2004 2:06 pm

well i have almost all at 100 exept for these:
str: 83
int: 62
pick locks: 91
climbing: 86
(i am a thief, dont have spells)
int is possible to increase by dodging i think, but im not sure and still i just cant increase it
pick locks/climbing have specific locations that after you get to a specific lvl you cant increase it anymore in that location, climbing cant find anywhere to increase it, same for picklocks.

how to increase em to 100?!?!!?!?!?

after passing my character to quest for glory 2, will i be able to add more points (to get the skills i have now at 0), if yes will i start with all the spells from quest for glory 1?

I think your stats are fine there unless you realy have nothing better to do. Maybe one or 2 will go up on your quest to beat the game. Good luck with that

Strength: Just fight more monsters.
Intelligence: I'm not sure, but dodging / parrying may help it.
Pick Locks: Keep picking the locks in town, the ones that will never open.
Climbing: Climb the wooden wall in the brigand's fortress repeatedly.

I think you get points to spend when you import a character into QFG2, but I don't remember. I'm sure someone else here can answer that.

Nope, no new points to spend, but all your stats will go up to a max of 200, so the game is pretty hard still. Kinda.

Actually, here's a funny thing I realized when looking over QfG a bit last week... you don't actually NEED most of the stats! Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're a wizard you don't actually have to fight ANY creature until you meet the monster at Avoozl's swamp crypt in QfG4 (although admittedly fighting is a good way to earn cash). If you're a thief, you don't have to fight much, either - and you can steal to get cash.

Now I know for most people the challenge is to get your stats as high as possible (e.g. max all at 100), but a weird different challenge would be to keep your stats as low as possible and still complete the game.

I believe the only necessary skills in QfG1 are, for a wizard,
* Fetch spell (enough to grab the kobold's key)
* Flame spell (enough to defeat the brigand at the target)
You need the calm and open spells, too, but they pretty much seem to work when required, regardless of your skill rank.
The interesting challenge here is training Fetch - which you can only do (afaik) at the spirea, until you succeed. After that, you'd have to train Magic instead, for instance by repeatedly casting Zap.

As a thief you need a bit more, but most of it is climbing (to get the seed) and sneaking (to get past Toro safely). Having a decent lockpicking skill helps, of course. I noticed that if you start the game with stealth skill around 45, you can just walk into the cave, feed the bear, and grab the key - thus rescuing Barnard on the very first day of the game.

Something similar applies to QfG2 and 3. Of course, if you happen to be a fighter, you'd better be able to fight!

Thoughts, anyone?
