Welcome to Erpy's guide to King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown. This guide is dedicated to the remake of King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown. King's Quest I was originally made in 1984 and was remade by Sierra in 1990. King's Quest I was the first game Sierra remade and unlike the other games Sierra renewed, King's Quest I was never remade in VGA with a Point-and-Click interface. Even though this remake was created by fans, you'd be hard pressed to tell that it wasn't created by Sierra On-Line in their golden days.
This document contains all the information you need to successfully complete the game with the maximum score. Since there are no significant changes in gameplay between AGDI's King's Quest I remake and Sierra's EGA remake, it's also possible to complete Sierra's own remake of the game with this guide. Since Sierra's EGA remake has a system where you need to type phrases however, you'll need to decide what to type yourself.
This is version 2.1 of the guide, reformatted for integration with the AGDI website by Relight, who also drew the Daventry Map.
Game Information
AGDI's King's Quest I: Quest for the Crown remake came out in August 2001 and is a remake of the 16-color version that Sierra released in 1990. AGDI's remake was made with a freeware utility called Adventure Game Studio (a utility that can be used to create your own adventure games). The game features a Point-and-Click interface and is similar in gameplay style to Sierra's Point-and-Click titles like King's Quest V. The game is not available in stores or for sale. It can only be downloaded freely from this website.
Certain features mentioned in this guide (foreign language support and the use of the keypad) are only in version 3.0 of the game. Version 4.0 no longer supports translation packs.
