It can be found near the shore of a lake. I've had the same problem trying to find the reed... the screen is practically black on my, with only Graham, the wolves and the horizon visible. I don't know how many times I've walked into the poison trying to find the thing :/

Is there any way to make the game brighter? (Like gamma correction in other pc titles)

Yeah I know, I couldn't find the reed at the swamp lake either.
Your best bet is to (restore) go back to Swan lake and get a reed there, you can see them perfectly.
